Mount Warning
A short drive over the New South Wales border near Murwillumbah is brilliant Mount Warning. Offering pristine untouched bush walks, Mount Warning is situated in a World Heritage listed National Park. Take the challenging four hour long 8.8km long trek to the summit, some 1157m above sea level and take in the breathtaking views out to the Pacific Ocean, the Gold Coast and Byron Bay. Shorter rain forest walks are also available near the base of the mountain.

Lamington National Park
Another World Heritage Listed area, Lamington National Park is situated in the Gold Coast hinterland, also offering fantastic walking tracks, including the 1.4km Rainforest Return, the 3.4km Python Rock, the 4.6km Morans Falls track, the 10.9km Box Forest Circuit, the 17.4km Toolona Creek Circuit, the 13.9km West Canungra Creek Circuit, plus many more, including the 5km long caves circuit.

Mount Tamborine
Only a short drive from the heart of the Gold Coast, Tamborine Mountain features stunning vistas over the Gold Coast and Cunungra Valley. Tamborine Mountain features many wineries, craft and gift shops, art galleries, as well as a host of exquisite cafes and restaurants. Make sure you spend a day to explore the area, including the Witches Chase Cheese Co, the markets, and the local produce suppliers.

South Stradbroke Island
South Stradbroke Island is an unspoiled island paradise only a short boat ride from the Gold Coast. 4WD day tours are available to explore the beaches and interior bush land, with there being several accommodation available on the island, including Curan Cove Resort.

Brisbane
Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland, is less than an hour away from the Gold Coast, north along the M1 freeway. Brisbane is also easily accessible by train, with regular trains departing from Gold Coast stations such as Helensvale, Nerang and Robina. Spend some time exploring the inner city shops and tourist attractions such as South Bank, the Botanical Gardens, the Queensland Museum and the Gallery of Modern Art. Mount Cootha is a short drive from the city centre and offers fantastic views over Brisbane, with many bush walks available through the native forest.

Byron Bay
Kick back and relax in beautiful Byron Bay. Explore the beaches, learn to surf, scuba dive, or just have a beer at the beach pub. A trip to the famous Byron Bay lighthouse is a must- park at the bottom of the hill and talk a walk through the National Park to the top of the hill.
